The First Channel gave the names of youth activists suspected of preparation of terrorist acts: Young Front press secretary Barys Haretski, head of Hrodna Young Front branch Yauhen Skrabutan, and members of BPF Party Zmitser Malchyk and Aliaksei Trubnikau.
On Sunday, June 24, the First National Channel, in its weekly news block “Panarama Weekly” reported, four youth activists had been detained on the Belarusian border. The report said, the customs officers seized two laptops with electronic reference books on terrorism from the detained. The secret files contained an electronic encyclopedia of mines and detonators, a “Terrorist’s Reference-Book”, materials about organizing terrorist acts, and a “One Hundred Ways of Suicide” book.
The report was shown on the day when Barys Haretski flew to Strasbourg, in order to participate in the Council of Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly.
Before departure Haretski told RFE/RL about the presence of great number of customs officers and top airport officials in the airport. Haretski added, daughter of KGB chief Stsiapan Sukharenka was taking the same flight.
Young Front is indignant at the provocation against the youth activists. They think, the goal of the report made by the First national Channel was to discredit the Kalinouski educational program.
