Prosecutor’s Office Reveals Violations of Convicts’ Rights

Brest regional prosecutor’s office carried out a series of examinations in prisons and investigative isolation centers of Baranavichy district. The examinations revealed numerous facts of violations: heads of companies cancelled labor contracts with the convicts for corrective labor, without warning the administrations of penitentiary institutions about that. Besides that, they failed to pay the wages of the convicts in time.  

 

The cases of financial abuses have also been revealed in Ivatsevichy district. For instance, it was revealed, that convicts had not received remittances in time, by approbation of accountant of corrective prison # 2.

 

RFE/RL reports, according to the information of the prosecutor’s office, a number of violations of medical and sanitary norms were violated.
