The Ministry of Justice refused to register the national human rights public association For Freedom! Movement. On 21 July the co-founders of the NGO received an official answer from the ministry.
According to the activist Aliaksei Kavalets, the authorities have no legal reasons not to register the Ngo. That’s why they state that some of the words in the charter stand in a wrong order, etc. The ministry also states that the state registration fee had been paid to a wrong place.
The constituent assembly of For Freedom! Movement took place on 20 July in Hrodna. Aliaksnadr Milinkevich was elected its head, Yury Hubarevich and Viktar Karniayenka – deputy heads. Participants of the constituent assembly elected the organization council which includes representatives of all regions of Belarus.
The legal address of the NGO is in Hrodna. The aims of the movement are construction of civil society, protection of the country’s independence and free and democratic elections in Belarus. Its activities include distribution of information, political campaigns, defense of the repressed, pressure on the authorities and international contacts.
