At 8.20 p.m. on 11 August in the rock club Arena (Talbukhin Street-4, Minsk) the police forcedly stopped a concert in the memory of Illia Kurkou, aka ‘Smitana’ who tragically died 40 days ago at the age of 19. They arrested five persons including the drummer of NaiSKAsok, one of the bands who performed at the concert.
The event was to have featured such bands as Destroyers, F.I.A., LimuZin, NaiSKAsok, etc. An official reason for cancellation of the concert was a wrong date in the tour bill.
The audience refused to leave the concert hall, chanting A.C.A.B. Then they started leaving the club, but gathered at the entrance. Several small short-time fights took place. Ten minutes later a police car arrived. Somebody broke a window from the inside of the club. At the same time people started throwing stones at the car. Then the arrests started.
