The administration of the open company Hrodna Azot (Hrodna Nitrogen) has started pressurizing members of the Belarusian Independent Trade Union in order to make them leave it and join a pro-governmental trade union Belkhimprafsayuz (Belarusian Chemical Trade Union).
The chair of a primary organization of the Belarusian Independent Trade Union Siarhei Antusevich believes that such actions of the enterprise administration remind the ones that took place 1,5 years ago, when the trade union lost more than 500 members.
The primary organization of the Belarusian Independent Trade Union Hrodna Azot is the only independent trade union acting at Hrodna plants. Despite protests of influential international organizations and the Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions, the pressurization continues. The administration of Hrodna Azot has already received notes of protest from the Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions and the Belarusian Independent Trade Union. Soon there will be an assembly of the organization bureau that will decide what next steps should be taken for defense of the workers’ rights.
