Siliverst managed to inform a BelaPAN correspondent about his detention. Inspector Serhiyenka, to whom he passed the mobile, refused to tell the reasons for the detention.
Vasil Siliverst lives in the town of Kalinkavichy. He is a disabled, liquidator of the consequences of Chernobyl accident, member of the United Civil Party and a founder of an unregistered NGO Liquidator. He came to Yelsk to visit his mother. Before his detention the policemen asked her whether he was going to Minsk for the European march.
