Homelskaya Prauda Apologizes

On October 18th Chyhunachny court of Homel heard the suit of Leanid Sudalenka against state regional newspaper Homelskaya Prauda. BAJ member Leanid Sudalenka sued the state paper to defend his honor and dignity. Alena Alenchanka, representative of the newspaper, agreed to publish disclaimer of the information published in the newspaper on August 2nd, without court hearing. According to the plaintiff, the newspaper spread false information that insulted his family. Alena Alenchanka claimed the disclaimer would be published on the ground of the text prepared by Leanid Sudalenka at the same place and with the same font as the article in dispute. In the article author S. Hrushenka (there is no such journalist in the newspaper’s staff) wrote, “grown up people have a great need of cannon fodder, young guys who are ready to participate in antisocial actions without giving it a second thought, without thinking about their future”. The author also stated that the son of Leanid Sudalenka went to Poland to study with the help of the program for opposition activists. According to Leanid Sudalenka, in reality his son is a student of the program “Children of the Repressed Parents” (Homel department of Beltransgaz cancelled the contract with Sudalenka after his participation in the team of Alexander Milinkevich during the presidential election).
