Viasna Demands Hearings in Belarusian language

Today the Supreme Court of Belarus began hearings of the complaint against the actions of the Ministry of Justice, which refused to register the Human Rights Center “Viasna”.
During the hearing the human rights activists demanded from the Ministry of Justice to present the documents in Belarusian language, and to carry out the trial in Belarusian language. As a result, the court gave the term till October 25th for translation of the documents. On October 25th the hearing of the complaint will continue.
The human rights defenders submitted application for registration of Viasna on July 23rd. On August 24th the Ministry refused to register the organization.
