As a result of this accident the driver got a severe head injure. Hryshchenia was not better – the medics diagnosed a compression spine fracture with the damage of the 8th vertebra.
Yaraslau Hryshchenia is sure that the reason of the accident was that the road was covered with ice. His mother came to Dziarzhynsk hospital from Baranavichy.
‘I was in Minsk on the affairs of the Young Front and on my private business as well. I usually hitchhike or go there by an electric train. This time I was picked up by a minibus. Near Dziarzhynsk the car slipped to the median strip and then fell into the ditch. The driver injured his head and I was diagnosed with a compression spine fracture. My mother came there and said that she would take me to Baranavichy. I hope that soon everything will be alright.’
This year Baranavichy court has tried Yaraslau Hryshchenia under article 193.1 of the Criminal Code, activities on behalf of unregistered organization. The activist was found guilty and fined. Some of the activists who came to the trial to support him were imprisoned. For instance, a former political prisoner Pavel Seviarynets was sentenced to 15 days of arrest.
