Belarusian human rights expert, Vice-President of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) Ales Bialiatski in connection with the recent repressions towards the participants of the 10 January action shares his observations: the authorities did not expect to see such level of entrepreneurs’ activity, which tried to protect their social and labour rights; the measures undertaken by the government is a harsh violation of the freedom of business activity; the authorities are really nervous about the upcoming action on January 21, so the repressions are aimed at minimizing the wave of social protest.
