Zmitser Fedaruk, activist of the Young Front, was sentenced by Centralny district court of Minsk to 15 days of arrest. Yesterday he was detained in the court where he had come to support the activists detained on 16 January, the Solidarity Day.
According to witnesses, Fedaruk was beaten by riot police during detention. They grabbed Fedaruk, when he was leaving the court, and threw him to a police car. He struck his head against the floor of the car, but his legs were outside, and then the policemen began to shove him into the car with the door.
Parents of the arrested, who came to courts, began to shout in the street to save the boy. Policemen did not allow anybody to come close to the car. Zmitser’s health condition is unclear. He has recently left the hospital, where he was recovering from head injury he had received during the crackdown of the demonstration “For Independence!” on 12 December.
The activist was accused of “disorderly conduct” and sentenced to 15 days of arrest. The verdict was given by judge Tatsiana Pauliuchuk.
Mikita Shutyankou, activist of the civil campaign “Jeans for Freedom” is kept in the police department of Centralny district. He was detained by police near the court yesterday. The judge sent the report for revision.
