In the evening of January 23rd, Zmitser Dashkevich was released from Shklou prison. The political prisoner called friends from Shklou post office and said he had been released early, reports Yulia Darashkevich, Nasha Niva reporter.
“Zmitser said he was going to take an electric train from Shklou to Vorsha, and go to Minsk from there. We plan to go to Vorsha by car, and meet him at Vorsha railway station. This is the only thing we know so far”, -- Yulia Darashkevich told RFE/RL.
The parents of the political prisoner learned about his release from the call of RFE/RL reporter. “Good God! I am so happy! Slava, take the phone!”, -- Zmitser’s mother Volha Dashkevich said. Zmitser’s father Viachaslau said he did not exclude early release of his son. “Recently a parcel we sent to Zmitser came back. There were no reasons for the return. We hoped something incredible could happen. And here we go, finally!”
Young Front leader Zmitser Dashkevich was sentenced to 1.5 years of imprisonment for participation in an unregistered organization. The term was to be over on March 15th.
