On 1 February KGB agents held a prophylactic talk with Aleh Liashchynski, Mazyr coordinator of the organizing committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party, architect of the project department of Mazyrski kamunalnik state enterprise.
According to Liashchynski, the KGB asked him about his participation in the establishment of the BCD. ‘I was warned that I had no right to act on behalf of unregistered organization and added that the party would not be registered because such ‘odious persons’ as Pavel Seviarynets and Aliaksei Shein headed it. The KGB agents said that they had many possibilities and I could face trouble at work,’ said Liashchynski.
