Zhaleznichenka’s Mother Sues against State Newspaper

Ala Zhaleznichenka, mother of a the youth activist Zmitser Zhaleznichenka who is being illegally detained at a military unit, has sued against the state newspaper Homelskaya Prauda for protection of the honor, dignity and business reputation of her son.
She asks the court to make the newspaper publish a disclaimer of the article ‘I don’t want to be a soldier, I want to be a democrat’ which smeared her son, and also publicly apologize to him and his family. The woman believes that the information that was published by the state newspaper, violates the presumption of innocence and in a deeply insulting form ascribe to him not only immoral, but also criminal actions.
Bear in mind that a top student Zmitser Zhaleznichenka was twice expelled from Homel State University, both times without sufficient reasons. After the first expulsion he was rehabilitated at the place of study by court. Four days after it he was expelled again and was almost immediately called up to army service.
