Political prisoner Siarhei Parsiukevich needs urgent operation

According to his lawyer, Vera Stramkouskaya, Parsiukevich has asthma aggravation, and doctors recommend him an urgent operation. There are no conditions for it in the Zhlobin detention center, RFE/RL reports.
23 April the Maskouski district court of Minsk sentenced the entrepreneurs’ leader Siarhei Parsiukevich to 2.5 years in a medium security penal colony. The Vitsebsk businessman was arrested in Minsk on 4 April for allegedly ‘violent acts against a police officer’. Shortly before it Parsiukevich had been detained for participation in the rally of entrepreneurs and got 15 days of arrest in the detention center in Akrestin Street. According to Parsiukevich, on 21 January he was brutally beaten up by Aliaksandr Dulub, a detention center officer. Later this policeman accused Parsyukevich of having beaten him to avoid accusation of excess of power.
