Tax inspection still interested in Valiantsin Stefanovich’s income

After the end of the press-conference dedicated to the present arrests and other forms of pressurization applied towards democratic activists within the frames of investigation of the criminal case brought on the fact of the 4 July blast in Minsk, the representative of the Committee of financial investigations in Minsk and Minsk oblast Yu.Bobin phoned to the apartment of the human rights activist Valiantsin Stefanovich to hand a writ to him. Valiantsin’s wife refused to open the door in the absence of husband.

Later Mr. Stefanovich had a telephone talk with the committee representative. He was told that he had to present the income declaration for the last year. However, he and his relatives have already presented such declaration to the district tax inspection. Nevertheless, as a result of the talk Valiantsin agreed to get the writ on Monday and come to the committee with a copy of the income declaration.

Thus, the authorities continue pressurizing human rights activists with the aid of tax inspections. Bear in mind that many Belarusian human rights activists and their families received the demands to present income declarations.

On 10 July Alexander Lukashenka took part in a council on the issues of the parliamentary elections. He stated that any oppositionist must answer to the people one question: where he works.
