In Hrodna the authorities continue pressure on Viktar Sazonau, human rights defender and civic activist. Today, on July 31st, he was summoned to Leninski district police department of Hrodna. The police questioned him about the blast in Minsk on July 3rd.
One week ago Sazonau was summoned to KGB about the same issue. Two days later he had problems crossing the state border. Among other issues, specialservices asked about his service in the Army, which took place 25 years ago. Sazonau stated that his military profession was intelligence, not working with explosives.
This time the police claimed they needed biometrical data of the human rights defender. Viktar Sazonau is convinced the police and the special services use the blast as the pretext for persecution of active participants and observers in the election campaign.
