Seventh registration denial to Brest oblast branch of Belarusian Social Democratic Hramada

The justice department has for the seventh time refused to register Hrodna oblast branch of the Belarusian Social Democratic Hramada. The members of the branch do not rule out that the officials substituted the documents for registration that were submitted by them.

The official reason for non-registration is that the place of work of one of the organization members which is specified in the submitted documents is allegedly incorrect. However, the head of Brest oblast BSDH branch Viktar Sazonau says that it is not true, because these documents have been passed for registration many times and during previous times the authorities had no doubts about the working place of the mentioned member of the party.

‘First of all we are denied registration because the authorities see a real organization which acts all over the oblast. They are evidently reluctant to legalize our activities and thus force us to act in underground,’ commented Sazonau.
