On its two-day visit to Minsk, the OSCE delegation held a meeting with representatives of various pro-democratic forces of Belarus, including Anatol Liabedzka, Siarhei Kaliakin, Anatol Liaukovich, Yury Hubarevich, Vital Rymasheuski and Dzmitry Dashkevich.
According to the UCPB leader Anatol Liabedzka, the delegation’s head Cecilia Wigstrom said that their objective was monitoring the situation in Belarus ahead of the upcoming local council elections in 2010.
The meeting dealt with the amendments to the electoral legislation passed by the Parliament this autumn. Representatives of opposition criticized the new version of the Electoral Code, which does not allow holding fair elections in Belarus.
