The criminal case of Vitsebsk Conservative Christian Party BPF member Siarhei Kavalenka reached General Prosecutor’s Office, after over a week of uncertainty about the investigation, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reports, quoting the activist’s legal counsel Piotr Kavalenka.
The submission of the case to Minsk may be caused by a change in the charges, believes Siarhei Kavalenka.
The activist was accused of violating Article 339 (malicious hooliganism) and Article 363 (resistance to a representative of authority) of the Criminal Code for hoisting a white-red-white flag on top of the city’s main New Year tree on 7 January 2010.
