22.09.2008 Spontaneous rally of entrepreneurs takes place in Brest market
A spontaneous rally of entrepreneurs took place at Varshauski market of Brest, RFE/RL reports. The reason was the actions of the tax inspectors. They arrived to the market and demanded conformance certificates from sellers of baby carriages. The entrepreneurs were outraged because they had the quality certificates and all the necessary documents.

On 4 September in the morning the entrepreneurs of Slaviantski and Tsentralny markets of Rechytsa held a short strike. The reasons for the action were explained by an activist of the entrepreneurs’ movement Aleh Shabetnik.
04.09.2008 ‘Case of 14’: personal restraint or home arrest?
This year 14 persons were accused of organization of mass riot at the protest action of entrepreneurs which was held on 21 January. One of them, Andrei Kim, was also accused of threatening with violence to a policeman and was sentenced to 1,5 years of jail. Two more, Anton Koipish and Uladzimir Siarheyeu, were punished with fines. One person remains abroad and therefore still has not received any punishment. The rest of the 14 were sentenced to different terms of personal restraint.

11.07.2008 Zhlobin: nominee to electoral commission is pressurized by financial police
At 10 p.m. on 10 July the resident of Zhlobin, entrepreneur and public activist Anatol Papou received a telephone call from a man who introduced himself as a worker of the financial police Karotki. He explained that he was standing at the door of Papou’s private house and needed to hand a writ to him. By this writ the activist was invited to the local department of financial police on 14 July for filling in an income declaration. ‘I don’t have to do it, because my only source of income is my business activity. As I haven’t ever been summonsed to the financial police before, I think it is connected with my public activities and my nomination to a district electoral commission,’ commented Papou.

The cassation complaint concerns 10 of the 13 tried activists and will be considered by Minsk cit court on 22 July.

The lawyer Vera Stramkouskaya has met with her client, political prisoner Siarhei Parsiukevich, kept in the quarantine department of Shklou colony. He will be kept in the quarantine till 16 June.
12.06.2008 Activist of ‘European Belarus’ Alexander Atroshchankau arrested for 15 days
Today in the afternoon Tsentralny district court of Minsk has sentenced Alexander Atroshchankau, activist of the campaign, to 15 days of jail. He had trial in the Tsentralny district. The activist was taken to the court from the KGB Minsk and Minsk region directorate.

23.05.2008 ‘Case of 14’: trial postponed till 26 May
The trail over the participants of the protest of entrepreneurs has been postponed till 26 May, 9.30 a.m. Maksim Dashuk, Mikhal Subach and Pavel Vinahradau will appear in court. Another participant of the process – Alexander Barazenka, is abroad now. The case will be judged by Viktar Yesman.
