16.07.2008 Court recognizes detentions under the July 4th blast legally qualified
On July 15th and 16th Centralny court of Minsk heard the complaints against detentions of Andrei Koipish and Tatsiana Pekun. The young people were detained under suspicion of organizing an explosion in Minsk.
14.07.2008 Two Young Front activists detained on the border
On 13 July in the evening the police detained Artsiom Lastavetski and Piatro Ruzau, activists of the underground youth organization Young Front, who were returning home from Lithuania. They were set down from a bus. The customs officers checked the activists for a long time and even took away their flash cards. Then they called to the police, who guarded the activists to a police station.

The activists of the United Civil party Dzmitry Kavalhin and Viktar Piatrouski have been detained for throwing of an address of the democratic forces in the run-up to the parliamentary elections in postboxes. Secret services knew about the rally of the United Civil Party beforehand.

As a result of a search at Koipish’s apartment the police confiscated a computer system block. Then Koipish was guarded to the investigative department in Sapiorau Street 7 in Minsk.

On 8 July in Salihorsk Pavel Batuyeu, Khrystsina Samoilava, Illia Shyla, Ivan Shyla and Andrei Tychyna were detained while collecting signatures for integration into the EU.

02.07.2008 More ‘Young Front’ members get arrested
The activist of the Young Front from Baranavichy Zmitser Stankevich was detained in the center of the city, near Lenin Square, while he was handing out leaflets with information about the political prisoner Andrei Kim. A violation report was drawn up on Stankevich. He was accused of petty hooliganism. On 1 June the activist was tried by court and sentenced to 10 days of arrest.
02.07.2008 Zhodzina: police seize leaflets with information about the EU
An activist of the civil campaign European Belarus Raisa Kuprushyna was detained by police in Zhodzina when she collected signatures for Belarus’ joining the European Union.
19.06.2008 Detentions in Brest
Four young activists were detained during a Solidarity Day action in Brest on 16 June. The participants were standing in a line and holding the portraits of political prisoners. Two female activists were finally released without any charges.

On 11 June in Polatsk the police detained five activists of the Young Front: Mikalai Dzemidzenka, Siarzhuk Karalionak, Ales Khaberau, Ales Krutkin and Katsiaryna Salauyova for unfurling a banner ‘Stop dictatorship’ opposite Polatsk city executive committee.
